About the event

Two very popular contemporary works, Gjeilo’s “Sunrise Mass” and Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminare” will be framed by two shorter works with strong social messages. Christopher Tin’s “Walayo Yamoni,” sung in Swahili, an uplifting setting of a Lango rainmaking prayer will begin the program. Jake Runestad’s “We Can Mend the Sky” is a poignant setting of poetry by a 14-year-old Somali immigrant that expresses an affirmation of hope as we all embrace the diversity around us. With chorus, soloists, and orchestra.

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of cultural organizations across Massachusetts by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier. EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders receive $5 general and $4 senior/student admission to AVM concerts in either…
