Mezzo Soprano Catherine Hedberg, a lifelong musician, performs regularly as a soloist and recitalist in the Greater Boston area. As an oratorio soloist, Catherine's performances have included Bach's Magnificat and Cantata No.170, the Requiems of Mozart, Duruflé and Fauré, and Beethoven's Mass in C, with organizations such as the Masterworks Chorale, the Lawrence Choral Arts Society and the Andover Choral Society. As an ardent explorer of song literature, she is especially interested in the music of the Americas and Spain, and has given many recitals in the Boston area.
Catherine studied piano and music from the age of five, and voice from the age of fourteen. She began her undergraduate studies at New England Conservatory, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music magna cum laude from Boston University, and trained with Richard Hogrefé. Catherine is currently working with composer and pianist, Peter J. Hodgson, on a CD to be released early next year. This collaboration will feature several inspirational songs written by Dr. Hodgson, and will be dedicated to peace efforts in Northern Ireland and around the world.
