Britten's lively and rhythmic setting of Smart's text, at times nonsensical, is great fun. The ever popular Mozart Vesperae Solennes with the sublime Laudate Dominum will provide a familiar backdrop for the Northeastern premiere of Orbán's Mass No. 2. This eclectic work is sure to find its place in the standard choral repertoire and the spirited and rhythmic Sanctus will certainly become an audience favorite. |
